Not a bad run but not a pb. Jonathon drove us to the race got there in plenty of time easy to find loads of space to park. We got out the car as team Heyes and Ironsam turned up. Walk up to go pick up race pack. Numbers pinned on almost time to shed layers did a mile warm up still in hoody.
Walk to the start line quick pic with rest of harriers. Jonathon said he was going to run with me that lasted a whole 10 seconds when I pointed out John was first harrier and off he went.
Me and Pete Cunliffe ran together I was struggling first mile to get into a rhythm. 6:39 for first mile happy with that second third and fourth we consistent around 6:45 fifth mile pace dipped due to water station Pete slowly pulled away as I tried to grab a drink. A group of 4 runners went passed me and ran with Pete the gap maintained the same till mile 6 and half ish a few twists and turns around hedge rows but he was always in my sight. A couple of runners joined me and I tried to use them to bridge the gap but it didn’t work and by Mile 8 he was pulling away as my pace started to drop.
Pretty un eventful rest of the race apart from 11.5 miles in nearly getting run over as a car was looking to see if it was clear to the side of him didn’t see me right in front of him until he pulled out I ran wide and shouted at him he waved an apology and pulled out when I was clear but was closer than i would of liked. Mile 12 I knew pb had slipped away was just digging in to the finish Francis and Kelly took pics and told me I was fourth harrier. Round the corner to see the 2 johns and pete before another tight corner finish.
Grabbed water as my medal and then to stand with the others cheating the rest of the team home. Some great running from the harriers and some big pb’s. Alex looked strong on his first half. Pb from Sam Blakeman but I think that’s partly to the abuse he gor from Kellyanne and Stu towns. https://www.fyldecoastrunners.com/uploads/5/2/4/9/52490083/clhm_main_results.pdf 68th finisher 1:32:40 chip time my second best half. I’ll get under 1:30 and some point
